Who we are
From grassroots roots to a professionally governed institution
WADDAN – Partner in Development is a Pakistani non-governmental organization established in 2006 in Malakand Division. Voices from the field
Notes from our work in the valleys
Health · BHU Qulandi
"A labour room close to home changes the hardest journey a mother makes. At Qulandi, that room now exists."
Health · BHU Qulandi
"Our work at Qulandi was checked by those who oversee it: the PPHI Upper Dir monitoring visit confirmed good-quality construction of the labour room."
Health · BHU Sawni
"Clean water, working drainage and a safe place for staff to live: at Sawni, rehabilitation meant restoring the basics that keep a BHU open."
Health · MNCH Centres
"Built on a reinforced concrete frame, the MNCH centres at Qulandi and Sawni are designed to keep serving mothers long after construction ends."
Health · BHU Dogdara
"In a seismic red zone, a health facility has to stand when it is needed most. Retaining and protection walls at Dogdara guard it against erosion, landslides and floods."
WASH
"A water point lasts only as long as the committee that cares for it. That is why every scheme begins with the community, not the contractor."
Humanitarian
"In July 2007, when floods struck the Usharai valley, the first task was simple: listen, assess, then deliver what families actually needed."
Social Mobilization
"Lasting change in a village is rarely built by outsiders. It is built by organised communities that own their decisions."
Agriculture · Upper Dir
"An olive orchard is a long promise. In Upper Dir, the demonstration orchard shows farmers what climate-smart farming can look like on their own slopes."
Plantation · Bakarabad
"Trees first, then crops: at Bakarabad, the plantation that holds the soil is the same one that makes the fields around it possible."

Research, surveys & assessments
Evidence that informs decisions
WADDAN combines field presence with in-house research capability — baseline, midline and endline surveys, needs and socio-economic assessments, impact evaluations, MEAL systems, GIS mapping and digital data collection using Kobo and ODK. As Implementation and Collaboration Partner of Support Help Solutions (SHS), WADDAN has contributed to assignments associated with UN agencies, international foundations and national organisations, and has been directly engaged by Muslim Hands for independent evaluation and report quality assurance. Its own evaluations, impact assessments and case studies document results in health, disaster risk reduction, humanitarian response and livelihoods.
UNESCO
Two consultancies for UNESCO's Regional Office in Italy, including gender analysis of groundwater governance.
Start Network
